What is the "Foundation of Leisure World" ?

The Foundation of Leisure World is an organization incorporated in the State of Maryland for charitable, health, educational, and cultural purposes. The Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt under Sec. 501 (c) (3) of the tax law and eligible to receive contributions which donors may claim as deductions on their income tax returns to the extent permitted by law.

Who Established The Foundation?

The Foundation was established by the residents of Leisure World through the Community Council. The Foundation is independently managed by a Board of Directors composed of seven residents whose appointments are approved by the Council.

Why Was The Foundation Established?

The Foundation was created to help enhance the quality of life at Leisure World. The community currently provides certain equipment, courses, lectures, discussions groups, and creative and performing arts presentations within the limits of its budgeted funds. The Foundation was established to supplement these efforts when the needs of the community's residents exceed fund availability, thereby providing that extra dimension which marks an interesting and vibrant community.

Why Should I Support The Foundation?

By supporting The Foundation, you can play an important role in overcoming the limitations of community's budget. You will also assist in the higher achievement of the health, educational, and cultural offerings appropriate to a growing Leisure World Community. Some of The Foundations contributions thus far include a grand piano in each of the two clubhouses, air cleaning equipment for the Woodshop, the establishment of a computer center, the purchase of an automatic video and disc projector for the auditorium, exercise and health equipment, sound enhancing equipment for the hard of hearing, videos and books on senior health subjects, as well as subsidizing public affair seminars, trips, and other educational and cultural programs. While there are several other tax exempt organizations in Leisure World that warrant support, The Foundation Of Leisure World is the only one whose sole concern is the health, educational, and cultural needs of the community and its residents.

How Can I Support The Foundation?

Your tax deductible contribution to The Foundation of Leisure World can help to raise The Foundations funds. Checks made out to Foundation of Leisure World, INC. can be sent to:
