GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT


COMMUNITY TOPICS

1. Finances of the Corporation -

Preliminary information indicates an operating surplus in the month of April of $6-8,000, which would reduce the year-to-date deficit to approximately $12-14,000.

 

LEISURE WORLD COMMUNITY CORPORATION

1. June Morning Communiqué –

A Morning Communiqué will be held on June 17th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Crystal Ballroom, with Senator Mike Lenett and the delegates from District 19 (Henry Heller, Roger Manno, and Benjamin Kramer). They will answer questions about the recent legislative session and update the community on bills and issues that impact Leisure World.

 

2. Health Fair –

The Leisure World Medical Center and the E&R Department are planning a health fair on Thursday, May 29th, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Activity Center of Clubhouse II. Residents will be able to get their blood pressure checked, meet a nutritionist, and obtain information about the services available at the Medical Center. Organizations that will be represented at the fair include Roberts Oxygen, MGH Sleep Disorders Center, LabCorp, and Red Hat Audiologist.

 

3. Round Table of Advisory Committee Chairs and Vice-Chairs –

A round table discussion will be held on Friday, May 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. in the Montgomery Room, for the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the LWCC Advisory Committees.

 

LEISURE WORLD OF MARYLAND CORPORATION

1. 2009 Budget Assumptions –

Management is beginning to work on the budget assumptions for the development of the 2009 budget.

 

2. Recycling Award -

On May 22nd, Leisure World will receive its second consecutive award for recycling. The community is being recognized by Montgomery County for “outstanding leadership and effort in recycling and waste reduction.” Leisure World was successful in recycling over 50 percent of its solid waste, compared to 13.5 percent for multifamily properties countywide. Congratulations to all who contributed to this success.
